Mustang Water Polo Contract (print version)

This contract is intended to provide information to both players and parents about the policies of the water polo coaching staff.  Please make sure that all referenced policies and guidelines are read before signing.  One of our primary goals as coaches is to be predictable and consistent in the treatment of all players.

Coach’s Philosophy and Expectations

The expectations of the coaches are meant to provide guidance for the daily conduct of water polo players.  Violation of those expectations may be cause for extra laps, game suspension, and/or removal from the team.

Absence and lettering policy

The purpose of having an established absence policy and lettering policy is to reinforce the importance of punctuality, attendance, responsibility, and commitment to the team.  The consequences for absences are spelled out in the policy.

Conflict Resolution/Communication

Conflicts arise within all groups, including teams.  I would like this team to be an opportunity for players to develop the skills they need to communicate effectively with peers and authority figures.  Therefore, if a player has a concern with another player, captain or coach, the player should address the concern directly to that person.  If resolution cannot be reached, the matter can be taken up the chain of command.  It would, therefore, be appreciated if parents would encourage their players to handle any concerns accordingly.  This includes encouraging their players to contact the coach directly rather than the parent contacting the coach on the player’s behalf.

Playing Time

Playing time and policies regarding choice of players for Varsity, JV, and freshman teams is strictly at the discretion of the coaches.  This is not an “everyone plays” situation.  Players may not compete on certain days based on the judgment of the coaches

Behavior, Attendance or performance issues will always be directed to the athlete.

I have read the coach’s Philosophy & Expectations and the Absence & lettering Policy.
